Digital Traffic Sign

To pique interest in PlanBTV South End by commuters on Pine Street, Terry Zigmund employed an unconventional use of a commonly sighted street object, the digital traffic sign. The sign was placed near the department of Public Works building and programmed with excerpts from the community’s responses to what made them smile about the South End and what they wanted to see change. The placement of the sign and its very nature as a traffic sign also alluded to a forty-year controversial (unbuilt) road project, now called the Champlain Parkway, slated for the South End.
